Green coffee is an industry term used to describe raw unroasted coffee beans.
It has no reference to fresh, organic, or healthy coffee products.
Unroasted coffee beans got this name tagged to it because raw coffee that have been harvested have a greenish hue to them before being processed.
Thus, the origin of this trade term.
While there are circles within the industry that continually discuss whether green coffee or roasted coffee is of higher quality, it’s a debate that will never be settled unanimously.
This is because different people have different taste preferences. And this results in two sides each preferring one of the other.
For all we know there might even be coffee enthusiasts who swear by the flavor of badly roasted green coffee or compromised green coffee that is roasted to perfection.
For this reason, one should avoid picking sides and just focus on making the most desirable beverage.
