If you have ever tried your hand at opening a bottle of wine, you’d know how much a struggle it can be both physically and emotionally.
Physically, you just know that you have the human strength to pull the cork out of the neck, but you need finesse as much as power to coax it out. You don’t know where or how to focus your muscles. And one wrong move might even cause a loose grip and smash the bottle of heaven on the floor or against the table.
Emotionally, you want to get it done with as much grace as possible since drinking wine is supposed to be a “classy” thing. But the longer you struggle with extracting a cork, the more stress it would show on your face.
There is no doubt that every time I witness a person elegantly remove a cork from the wine bottle, I am impressed.
Those that work like a lever can be fascinating. And those manual ones attached to swiss-army knives tend to be the most challenging.
It was by chance that I was introduced to the Secura SWO-3N by a patron.
It was sitting on the table in a box with a premium look… and I just had to chat him up about it.
Features
The Secura SWO-3N is actually an electric wine bottle opener that looks like a beacon of energy that could potentially destroy the world unless the Avengers arrive soon to confiscate it.
It is shaped like a baton with about two-thirds of it’s body made of stainless steel, and the remaining third of transparent plastic shell around the corkscrew mechanism that allows us earthlings the pleasure of witnessing the magical moment as the cork is pulled out of the wine bottle.
It really was some breathtaking stuff as we used it to open a bottle of Robert Mondavi Merlot.
As if watching a miracle play out before out eyes.

So it was an eye opener.
Should you buy the Secura electric wine bottle opener?
I have to acknowledge that the market is not the same as it was a decade or so ago.
It used to be that people would call someone crazy for buying a cork remover that cost more than $3.
Now consumers would be willing pay premium price for premium products.
But paying big money for overpriced products would leave anyone with a bad taste in their mouths.
So the question is… Is this product worth the premium price label?
If you run a restaurant or cafe that serves wine, a device like this is a total no-brainer. It adds to the customer experience of patronizing the place and ordering wine.
It would also be a nice item to have in the office pantry if having wine is part of the company culture.
For people who organizes parties regularly, this is also something that would be intriguing to anyone.
But for households, I’d say that this is too much of a pointless effort to pamper yourself.
The joy with having wine from the comfort of home is to have it swish-swoosh about in your mouth. Not to have fun opening the bottle.
However, it would be a great gift to someone.
So you might want to talk about this product aloud when your birthday is near. Maybe friends and family would pick up on your subtle communication.
