Bar Pressure

Bar is a unit used in the measurement of pressure.

1 bar of pressure is equivalent to the natural atmospheric pressure at sea level.

However, not all countries around the world recognizes it’s usage in official measurements.

As coffee espresso machines and pod beverage makers used pressure to make the drinks that they are supposed to, the bar pressure indicates how much pressure the machine uses to pump out coffee through the grounds.

While most coffee experts generally agree that 9 bar is the minimum amount of pressure an espresso machine should have to churn out the best quality of coffee from grounds, many also contend that higher bar pressures do make better espressos.

This really depends on the whole setup of a customizable machine and the coffee grounds that is used for the brew.

So if a machine is not customizable, it really doesn’t matter much as long as it is capable of at least 9 bars.

But if you run your own cafe or into creating your own brewing technique, then you need a machine capable of allowing the user to customize various brewing aspects including bar pressure.
