Full immersion describes the filtering brew methods of coffee whereby the water and coffee are together during the duration of the brew.
Most coffee brewing methods uses full immersion.
The obvious category of brewing that leans away from full immersion is the pour-over method.
Full immersion brewing creates a more consistent texture of beverage compared to pour-overs.
There are so many variations of this type of brewing that it is impossible to list them all here.
Countless brewing machines have also been designed with specific filtration and blending options. Some even allow the user to customize the degree of these variations.
As different people have different preferences in tastes, no one method or machine can be classified as the best of all.
The biggest drawback of full immersion however, is that a drink will contain less coffee as some of it gets lost in the ground residue during extraction.
This is why hardcore coffee lovers go for pour-overs for that rich flavor… and to roll their eyes at other patrons who are having lattes.
